Hi There!


It is nice to meet you virtually! My name is Star and I would love to take this opportunity for us to get to know each other a little better. 


From a very young age, I enjoyed being creative in the kitchen, experimenting with recipes and ingredient swaps. At the University level, I chose nutrition as a major, eventually earning the title of Registered Dietitian and Certified Functional Medicine Nutrition Therapist. 


Traditionally, dietitians are not trained in Functional (or Holistic) Medicine. I, however, initially grew interested in Functional and Integrative medicine while searching for the root causes and treatments of my family’s health conditions. My experience in the kitchen and as a Registered Dietitian helped me re-create our pantry and meals to accommodate diets, which at times, were free of gluten, wheat, eggs, dairy, nuts, soy, and fish. 


I have always believed that if my kids and I were on special diets, we had a right to enjoy our meals with as much delight as those eating ‘normal’ food, and without feeling left out or in denial. As a result, I have gone to great lengths to recreate classic ‘kid’ food, including recreating cheese crackers into dairy, soy, and gluten-free versions. I learned early on to always have homemade dairy, soy, gluten, and sometimes egg-free cupcakes on standby in the freezer. This stockpile assured my kids had a yummy treat at their friends’ birthday parties and school celebrations.


While I feel that it is important for us to enjoy the “20%” foods such as biscuits and cake - you know, the 80-20 rule: eat clean, healthy foods 80% of the time, and enjoy treats 20% of the time, I believe that it is equally important that the 80% foods bring a smile to our face as well. I’m excited to teach you how to do just that!
